Try This Easiest Jamaican Jerk Tacos Recipe At Home And Thank Me Later

I’ve created a simple recipe for grilled jerk chicken tacos that takes less than an hour to prepare, cook, and serve. When fresh grapes are available, use them instead.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

Jerk Seasoning:

  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons of ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of spicy pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (try to use brown sugar)
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon dry parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • Half a teaspoon of crushed cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

After assembling your ingredients, put them all in a small mixing dish. Combine everything in an even mixture. Ensure that it is neatly standardized. This seasoning can be prepared 10 to 15 days in advance.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken:

  • 2 pounds of skinless, boneless chicken breast
  • 2 tbsp. olive or vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup orange or lime juice
  • 2–3 Tablespoons of Jerk Spice
  • Salt, if required

Grapes & Orange Salsa:

  • 1/2 chopped jalapeño (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups of fresh grapes, chopped finely
  • Half a cup of freshly peeled and chopped orange
  • 1 cup of shredded beetroot or cabbage
  • 1/4 cup of red onion, chopped finely
  • 1/4 cup of red pepper

Hot Cream:

  • 1 cup of sour cream or mayonnaise
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons of habanero hot sauce (depending on the level of heat you choose)
  • 1 tsp. of spicy paprika

For Warping:

  • 7 medium flour tortillas

Instructions:

  • Combine the chicken breast, oil, citrus juice, jerk seasoning, and salt in a large zip-lock bag. Let the marinade marinate for at least 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Grill on medium-low heat. When the chicken is hot, fry it for 5 minutes on each side, or until it turns no longer pink.
  • Please take off the grill and give it a five-minute rest.
  • Toss the grapes, orange, red onion, cilantro, beetroot, or cabbage, and, if desired, jalapeño in a bowl.
  • Mix the habanero hot sauce, spicy paprika, and mayonnaise/sour cream in a small bowl.
  • Thinly slice the chicken and distribute it among the tortillas.

To Prepare Tacos:

  • Top sliced jerk chicken with grape salsa on a wheat tortilla. Pour on some hot cream.
  • Squeeze in some lime or orange juice.
  • Serve immediately.
Note: Use a kitchen hammer and poke it for extra juiciness and a fine marinade on the chicken. It will help you make a quick marinade, and you will save time.
